Cecil Ave, Cannington

99 Apartments, 4000sqm Office/ Retail/ Showroom, On the Drawing Board, ≈ $60M

This master planning exercise came about following the local council’s proposal to develop a new ‘Town Centre’ along Cecil Avenue, linking the local train station with the commercial hub of Albany Hwy.  The council proposed to vastly increase the density of the areas by allowing mixed use multi-level developments, and therefore creating a commercial office node outside the CBD.  Motus investigated this idea with the proposal of a 13 floor residential tower set amongst lower level Retail and Commercial tenancies.  We thought it was important NOT to develop in the same way as the Perth CBD, and embraced the concepts of a garden city, allowing large expanses of open space and pedestrian malls between higher building.  This extended beyond ground level with vast landscaped rooftop terraces that provide sanctuary within the built environment.  Estimated construction value ≈ $60M
